Cathy Wright

Driven by a passionate belief in the power of the arts and education to elevate students and communities, Cathy Wright continues to serve as a creative instructional strategist and curriculum writer for schools and organizations in Alabama and around the Southeast. She is a 1992 American Teacher Award Honoree in the Performing Arts (Dance), a 1995 Artist-in-Education Fellowship Recipient from the National Endowment for the Arts, and the co-author (with Randy Foster) of the Alabama State Department of Education’s ACCESS Distance Learning Arts Survey course online (cited nationally as one of the first of its kind in the country). Holding both a BFA and an MFA in Dance, Cathy is the founding director of the dance program at the first magnet visual and performing arts high school in Montgomery (now housed at Booker T. Washington Magnet High School).
